The Cancer Center welcomes….
Dipanjan Pan, PhD, MS, Assistant Professor, Bioengineering, College of Engineering, on the Urbana campus.  Dr Pan has joined the Carcinogenesis and Chemoprevention program.

Wen-Shu Wu, PhD, Associate Professor, Hematology/Oncology, College of Medicine, on the Chicago campus. Dr. Wu has joined the Cancer Biology program.

Congratulations to....

CTT member Hayat Onyuksel, PhD, Professor, Pharmaceutics and Bioengineering, Department of Biopharmaceutical Science, on receiving support from the Illinois Department of Public Health, as part of the Penny Severns Breast, Cervical and Ovarian Cancer Research Fund!  Dr. Onyuksel’s research project is “Targeted Nanomedicine for Effective and Safe Treatment of Breast Cancer.”

CTT member Neeta Venepalli, MD, Assistant Professor, Section of Hematology/Oncology, and colleagues Andrew Boyd, MD, Assistant Professor, Department of Biomedical and Health Information Sciences, and Drs. Yusuf Qamruzzaman, Jianrong Li, and Yves Lussier,  on their publication in the Journal of Oncology Practice.  Their paper, Identifying Clinically Disruptive ICD-10-CM Conversions to Mitigate Financial Costs Using an Online Tool, emphasizes that “up to 5% of billing costs for clinical oncologists may be mapped incorrectly to ICD-10-CM by the government ICD-10-CM mapping.  Venepalli explains that this is critical, as operating margins for most outpatient practices are around 5%.
