Medical Student Clerkship

The Department of Neurosurgery is pleased to accommodate medical students for one month clerkships. Rotating students will have the opportunity to observe and participate in neurosurgical cases in the OR, and provide hands-on clinical care in the ICU under resident and faculty supervision. Participation in patient rounds and daily conferences is included.

For non-UIC medical students, please contact Monica Mason-Hayden at the Office of Student Affairs (312-996-2450) to fulfill the necessary requirements for undertaking a medical student clerkship. In addition, for non-UIC medical students, the following information should be sent directly to the Department of Neurosurgery, to the address indicated below:

  • Cover letter including dates of requested visit
  • Medical school transcripts
  • Photo

Housing during medical student clerkships can be arranged through the Department of Neurosurgery, within the departmental shared student dormitory housing on the University campus for a nominal daily fee of $25/day based on availability.
