Residency

As of September 1, 2008, the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago will no longer be participating with the San Francisco Neurological Matching Program (SF Match).  We will instead be participating in the NRMP, with applications submitted via the  Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS), which is sponsored by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).  Applications through ERAS will be accepted beginning on September 1, 2009 for neurosurgery positions beginning June 24, 2010

To apply, please visit the ERAS website at: http://www.aamc.org/students/eras/

Applications to our department for 2009 should be submitted by October 15th to the ERAS Matching Program.  Applications received through ERAS after that date will not be reviewed.  We will begin interviews no sooner than November 2009 to January 2010. Interview dates will be posted in upcoming weeks..

Foreign applicants are requested to be certified by the ECFMG.  Applicants are required to have a visa covering the 7 years of  residency. The University of Illinois at Chicago ONLY sponsors foreign medical graduates under a J1 visa. The University does not sponsor H1 visa as a rule.
