PREREQUISITES AND PLACEMENT IN THE CURRICULUM: Students must have completed the M3 Core Clerkship in Surgery.

PURPOSE:
The major objective of this program is to provide senior students with an in-depth experience in peripheral vascular surgery. Additionally, students will be given the opportunity to function as junior house officers.

COMPETENCIES:

INSTRUCTIONAL FEATURES:
The student will be involved in the initial diagnostic work-up, the operative procedure and postoperative care and follow-up. Time will be spent in a non-invasive vascular laboratory so that these diagnostic techniques may be learned. The student will scrub on those patients for which she/he is responsible and will be able to perform some of the simpler surgical procedures. The student will also have the opportunity to participate actively in the frequent conferences and case presentations on ward rounds.
