You are here:

Subscribing to the Live Block Schedules

You can subscribe to the block calendar using your favorite calendar that supports Web calendars (Google web calendars, Macintosh iCal app, etc.)

Copy the text of the link listed below for the calendar you want. In your calendar program of choice choose to SUBSCRIBE to an internet calendar (it may call it add by URL, or just call it Subscribe), and put that link name as the URL.

Do not try to IMPORT the file, you must SUBSCRIBE only.

You can not change or remove any of the individual events from your calendar, they will just show up. Your calendar will show any changes to the block calendar made by UGME. This may take as many as 24 hours to show changes once they are put in (I think Google only updates once a day)

Do not click on the link and try to download a file, you MUST Copy and Paste the address and then subscribe to the calendar - this way you will see changes that are made.

If you know your calendar will subscribe to internet calendars, but the link above doesn't work for you, try adding ".ics" to the end (without the quotes).

This utility provides data from 10 days in the past to 60 days in the future.  If you wish to change the date range, you can do the following:
Append a range to the end of the link, for example, append
&back=30&forward=90
to change the date range from the default to 30 days back and 90 days in the future.

And of course, we are in Central time. If your calendar or mobile device is set to some other time, all the appointments will be wrong :)

Once you have added the subscription, it may take a few minutes to populate the calendar, be patient.

There are many many different calendar programs - here are instructions for a few (if yours is not listed here, try a google query "subscribe calendar programx" where programx is your preferred calendar program.

How to subscribe to a calendar in google calendar
  1.  At the bottom of the calendar list on the left, click the Add
down-arrow button and select Add by URL.
   2. Enter the address in the field provided.
   3. Click Add.

Some versions of Outlook support calendar subscriptions (2007 seems to, 2003 does not): On the Tools menu, click Account Settings, and then click the Internet Calendars tab and add a new calendar (Outlook for sure needs you to append the .ics extension to the URL as listed above)

How to subscribe in iCal on the Macintosh - from the Calendar menu, choose Subscribe....

Some mobile devices allow you to subscribe directly, like the iPhone. In this case you add it to the calendars on your device, and you do not need any password - specifically on the iPhone in "email and calendars" add another account, choose other, then Add Subscribed Calendar, the link goes where it says "server" and you don't need to change anything else. I think Blackberries might do this as well.

I am not convinced that this will work on Palm devices, and I KNOW it will not work with UIC's Oracle Calendar product (occasionally referred to as UICalendar or UICal - not the same thing as iCal on the Mac)
