The university of Illinois College of Medicine has long been regarded as one of the country’s leading medical schools.  Many of our 25,000+ alumni are internationally recognized clinicians and scientists, advancing the field of medicine as they transforms lives through world-class medical care.

We’re proud of our tradition of excellence, access and social responsibility and we believe a world-class medical education demands a world-class learning environment. Our historic College of Medicine building on Polk Street, originally constructed in the 1930’s, must be renovated and revitalized to create a state-of-the-art medical school for the 21st century.

To turn this vision into reality, we have embarked on The Learning Center Project at Polk Street.  This ambitious capital enhancement program will transform the college of medicine’s outdated instructional facilities into a world-class center for medical education that will attract the most talented faculty and students, enhance the student experience and support emerging trends in medical education.

Medical Education In The 21st Century:

The 21st century medical student learns differently than in the past. Team-based active learning, virtual anatomy resources and patient simulation mannequins have enhanced the student experience.

The University of Illinois College of Medicine has plans to renovate and modernize educational space on the second, third and fourth floors of the historic College of Medicine West Tower to include updated technology, study space and classrooms that will easily adapt to a team-based learning curriculum. By making an annual gift in support of the Learning Center at Polk Street you will ensure future Illinois Medicine students will continue to receive a world-class education in a world-class facility.

In addition to annual support, there are opportunities to transform the future of medical education and have a lasting impact on generations of Illinois Medicine physicians by making a transformative gift in support of the Learning Center Project at Polk Street.
